Sawa Center
Sawa- All the Women Together, Today and Tomorrow,
is a not-for-profit organization established in Jerusalem in 1998
by a group of active female volunteers. Sawa aims at combating
violence in all its forms, types and levels, and to work on changing
the prevailing culture of violence, disseminate a culture of peace
and security to serve personal and community development in order
to reach a civilized society.
Mission:
We are a group of Palestinian women who believe
in social equity and justice. We work on eliminating the spread
of sexual and physical violence against women and children in
the Palestinian society through providing services and community
awareness.
Goals:
To provide assistance, psychological support, counseling,
and guidance to women survivors of physical and sexual violence.
To disseminate awareness in order to avoid physical,
sexual and psychological violence among target groups.
To provide psychological support and counseling
to protect children from violence and defend their rights.
To recruit and train new volunteers continuously
to work on the Center's programs.
Programs:
- Crisis Hotline Program: Provides primary counseling
and support to women survivors of physical and sexual abuse
.
- Outreach and Education Program: Conducts workshops
and awareness lectures within all sectors and all ages of society.
The program also publishes awareness booklets on sexual and
physical violence, sex education, in addition to training related
professionals.
- Children's Friend" Hotline: it is a national
toll-free line aims at providing assistance, counseling and
primary support to the children of Palestine.
- Volunteers Program: aims at recruit, train and
qualify volunteers to work on the Crisis Hotline, Education
Program and the Children's Hotline.
