The Arab Program for Human Rights Activists Participates in a Human Rights Experts' Conference Fifteen Years after Vienna: Achievements and Challenges since the World Conference on Human Rights” *********** The Arab Program for Human Rights Activists, for two days, took part in the International Conference of Human Rights Experts in the Austrian Capital, Vienna, on the 28th and 29th of August, 2008. The conference hosted discussions about the status and conditions of human rights worldwide in the light of the declaration and work plan of Vienna in which more than 400 human rights experts participated from around the world. It is worth mentioning that the activities of the conference were conducted through three main work groups. The first group monitored Challenges to national implementation of international human rights standards. The Arab Program participated in the deliberations of this work group. The second group's activities evolved around the title 'Human Rights for All– how to spread the message;' whereas, the third group revised the role of OHCHR and UN human rights mechanisms in the promotion and protection of human rights . The conference was concluded by the declaration of the recommendations of the three work groups, which will be published by the organizing committee of the conference. The High Commissioner of Human Rights participated in this conference in addition to ex high commissioners, the Head of the United Nations Human Rights Council, a large number of ambassadors, ministers, heads of United Nations Committees, international NGO's, regional organizations and a number of experts.
