Opposition movements foreshadow ways out of the crisis
What Left do we take as a starting point?
I will start with the alter-globalisation movement, which can be defined as a movement representing both a prolongation and a renewal of its three historical predecessors: the decolonisation movement, the workers' and the social movements, and the struggles for freedoms. Decolonisation, social struggles, the democratic imperative, as well as the freedoms constitute the predominant historical culture of this movement. The challenge is to define a new emancipatory project.
A Passionate United States Social Forum
The United States Social Forum (USSF) that was held in Detroit from the 22-26 June 2010 was a great success, one of the major events of the World Social Forum's (WSF) 2010 World Action Campaign. More than 15 000 people participated in the USSF. Around 2000 associations, for the most part grass roots movements, lead 1300 self-managed workshops and initiatives.
Green New deal and strategic issues of the crisis
The international debate and the alter-globalist movement's approach
The Green New-Deal appears as one of the proposal discussed in the debate on the strategic issues of the crises. We will not enter into the discussion on the nature of the crisis and the importance of ecology as a new paradigm. We will consider that the G20 proposals are not, for the moment, are not really concerned with a green new deal and are more related with some green painting and slight corrections of the neoliberal policies. Green New-Deal is present in three main axis of strategic issues.
