8 Children and an Infant

The Arab Program for Human Rights Activists continues to follow up, with extreme worry, news coming from occupied Gaza, which is evidence of the extent of deterioration and worsening of human conditions due to the imposed Israeli siege. In addition to the suspicious international silence and complete oversight to what is happening in Gaza in lieu of shameful crimes. The occupied forces announced, on the 19th of last September Gaza as a hostile territory and tightened siege around it, which led to the following:

- Decrease of the individual share of the GPA to less than 2 dollars/day.
- Work in the official productive sectors has been paralyzed, which led to losses the experts estimated at 48 million dollars/month.
- Closure of 3500 factories out of 3900 in Gaza.
- Rise of unemployment to 80%.
- Nearly 85 persons died due to the shortage in medicine as a result of the siege; in addition to the numbers that are killed everyday as a result of Israeli firing and ammunitions. The brutal air raids on Gaza, during the last two days, led to the killing of 32 persons, 8 of whom are children and one is an infant. There are also not less than 1700 Palestinian children in the hospitals of Gaza where they do not receive the needed medical care or medicines due to the current siege.

The Arab Program condemns all Israeli practices in Gaza and reaffirms that those practices constitute war crimes as have been confirmed by the International Crimes Tribune's conventions. Those practices also constitute flagrant violations of Geneva's four conventions pertaining to the protection of civilians in times of armed conflicts; in addition to the protection of civilians under occupation. The Arab Program holds the international community responsible for what is happening in Gaza and warns that the deteriorating conditions in this area is heading towards a human disaster if the aggressive operations of the occupation forces continue as well as the international silence towards this crisis.

The Arab Program beseeches international and Arab organizations to work towards levying off the human suffering of the inhabitants of Gaza by using all available legal means and mechanisms as per the protocols and bylaws confirmed by relevant international conventions.
