Thank you again for your participation in the Arab Coalition for Darfur Civil Society Conference in Morocco last week. We enjoyed very interesting and informative meetings and lively discussions.  You have met my colleague Marwa El-Ansary from Crisis Action. She will get in touch with you individually later to carry on some of the discussions you had in Morocco, but as a matter of urgency we would like to publish the open letter from the Arab Civil Society organizations to the League of Arab States. As an achievement of the conference we would like to remind the Arab States of their crucial role in securing Sudan and Darfur’s peaceful future and of their responsibility to prevent a renewed conflict risking instability and further suffering, not only in Sudan but in the whole region.

As representatives from Arab Civil Society Organizations, we would like to ask for your signature onto the open letter to increase the credibility and impact of the letter and to join the voices of the whole Arab Civil Society. We are seeking to focus on Arab Civil Society, therefore, your signatures should be endorsed by your organizations as it is their names that will appear.

Please indicate your interest in signing this letter as soon as possible, no later than March 15, since we would like to publish the letter prior to the Arab summit at the end of March.

For your information I will attach the actual draft of the letter in English and Arabic, once both letters are finalized we will also send you a copy, but the content will not change. Please be aware that the letter is still under embargo and strictly confidential, do not circulate it. If you are willing to sign the letter for your organization, please let me know your full name, the name of your organization and your position.
