Israeli, Palestinian Investigative Responses to Goldstone Released

Following the visit to Gaza of a sixteen-person committee created by the UN Human Rights Council, the United Nations released the results of Palestinian and Israeli investigations into Israel's 2008-2009 military attack on Gaza, Operation Cast Lead.

Israel: New Peak in Arbitrary Razing of Palestinian Homes

Discriminatory Israeli Policies Demolish Village, Forcibly Displace West Bank Residents

(Jerusalem) - The Israeli government should immediately stop the arbitrary destruction of Palestinian homes and other property in the West Bank and compensate the people it has displaced, Human Rights Watch said today. Israeli authorities destroyed 141 Palestinian homes and other buildings in July 2010, the largest number in any month since at least 2005, and have already carried out dozens of demolitions in August.

Next Flotilla on its Way Back to Gaza

Freedom Flotilla Coalition Meets in Stockholm ...

It has been over two months since Israel's 31 May 2010 deadly assault on the Freedom Flotilla and little to nothing has been done to hold Israel accountable for its savage attack that led to the killing of nine of our colleagues, or to end Israel's continued violations against the Palestinian people, especially the 1.5 million residents of Gaza. As such, we are continuing our global, grassroots effort to stand up to Israel's ongoing intransigence, including planning our next direct action. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition has just concluded its meeting in Stockholm, Sweden, where we discussed plans to enlarge our coalition to include the various groups around the world that want to join us, as well as intensify our efforts to mobilize a new flotilla. The world must continue to demand that Israel cooperate with the UN Human Rights Council's investigation committee, in order to ensure independence, thoroughness, credibility, and justice for the victims.

Clashes on Israeli-Lebanese Border

Israeli and Lebanese forces exchanged fire at Israel's northern border on Tuesday. Three Lebanese soldiers and a photographer are reported killed and an Israeli battalion commander was killed and a platoon commander was critically wounded in the border skirmish.

Israeli reports claim Lebanese forces fired on Israeli troops stationed near the border, after which an Israeli tank reportedly fired back at Lebanese positions to the north.
