On October 23, 2011, for the first time in their history, Tunisians will be free to elect their representatives. The Tunisian revolution which led to the fall of President Ben Ali's regime was carried out under the slogan of Dignity, Liberty and Equality. Members who will be elected to the Constituent Assembly will have the responsibility of translating these aspirations into actions that will build a democratic Tunisia that respects liberty and basic human rights.

E-Joussour: Networking for women's rights and democratization is a 2-year European Union project in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), executed by Alternatives, a Canadian non-governmental organization, based in Montreal. The project is implemented in partnership with five civil society partners and three associates in MENA region.
The Overall Objective of E-Joussour project is to increase political participation and representation of women in the MENA region. More specifically, over the 24-month programme, the project will:
(1) Strengthen the role and representation of MENA women organizations in support of democracy, human rights and gender equality in the region;
(2) Improve public understanding of gender concepts, equality and women's rights, through enhanced gender analysis on human rights violations and conflicts in MENA region;
(3) Enhance the cooperation between women's groups, local decision-makers, politicians in MENA countries, through greater use of ICTs and South-South and North-South dialogue activities.
